A solid fourteen carat, single stone, diamond solitaire ring.  This is a classic vintage single stone ring that has been the tried and tested engagement ring.  A solitaire ring is one diamond set in a band.  This example is the epitome of that!  A very clean and simple tapered white gold band graduates to the shoulders where four prongs rise up to support the beautiful old princess cut diamond.  The setting is pretty, and has a frame of 'C' shaped cut setting prongs holding in the diamond.  The diamond itself is approximately 0.7 carats in weight, is a VS1 and an I colour.  Very bright, a lovely colour and with no heavy natural inclusions.

The history of solitaire rings dates back to ancient Rome, when gold rings set with uncut diamond stones were highly prized. The first documented diamond engagement ring was made in 1477, when an Austrian archduke used one to propose. This event sparked the widespread adoption of diamond rings as a traditional part of engagements in cultures worldwide.

The ring is vintage, so there is wear to the shank.  But, nothing that is distracting to the eye.  The ring currently fits a US finger size 4.5, but can easily be sized.  Should that be rquired.  If you are looking for a vintage diamond single stone ring, this provides the perfect example.
